security, add a user

Troubleshooting

security, add a user

Postby wingerdict » 02 Dec 2017, 08:58

I'm installing LMServer on a workstation logged in as a domain admin. In the security tab I select 'NT'. I can add securitygroups like 'domain\teachers' from my domain, but when I add 'domain\administrator' it has a red cross in front and is not accepted. Neither can I select the group 'domain\administrators'. Workstations are W10, DC is Server2012.
Wat am I missing here?

I will attach a screenshot as soon as I am back at the school/client. Might take a week though, hope for your patience.

but when I add 'domain\administrator' it has a red cross in front

I think this is the problem, restart PC or reenter it in the domain.

Took a couple of weeks before I returned to the school but I have solved the problem:

As it turned out Litemanager needs the local administrator account to be active. Be default this is turned off, and for student machines I don't enable it. If the machine crashes I simple re-deploy it. In AD the domain/administrator, who entered the machine in to the domain has all the priviliges needed.
When I install litemanager as a domain-admin, and add the <domain>\administrator to the security settings, LM seems to look for a local administrator, can not find it and displays a red cross in front of the name.
This happens for the administrator only, alll other domain users can be added without a problem.

So the solution was to enable the local administrator account ( net user administrator /active:yes <password> )
